🎓 For Prospective Students
Thank you for your interest in my research! I lead a lab focused on human-centered natural language processing (NLP), and I’m currently recruiting for positions starting in the next academic year. I hope the information below helps you determine if you would be a good fit.
💡 What I Look For in Students
- Research Fit: I am interested in human-centered NLP. This research area explores the impact of the quality, type and format of human feedback on the performance of NLP methodologies. It also investigates how NLP methodlogies can be designed in a particpatory approach, such as they respond to users' needs and requirements. I value research that designs explainable, fair, and impactful tools with users' needs in mind. I particularly welcome students with experience in NLP, human-AI collaboration, or machine learning, as these areas are central to my research.
- Momentum: Research can be challenging, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. I value students who can bounce back from setbacks, keep moving forward, and maintain momentum in the face of uncertainty. Being organized and proactive helps make our collaboration productive and enjoyable.
- Curiosity: I appreciate students who ask thoughtful questions and are motivated to explore new ideas.
- Open Communication: I value honesty and clarity — these build a strong foundation for any working relationship.
